ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) - 2 day course

The Traffic Control Technician is a pre-requisite for the Traffic Control Supervisor Course.  If you have taken the Traffic Control Technician course with anyone other than LTAP, you will need to email us a copy of your TCT certificate so you can register for Traffic Control Supervisor.  You can email a copy of your TCT certificate to Jackie Sanders at jackie.sanders@usu.edu.  After we receive your certificate we can add the TCT course to your LTAP account so you can register for the TCS.  If you have more questions please call Jackie at 435-797-2918.  Please make sure to add your phone number to your email.


RETAKE TESTS - If you do not pass the test the first time, you can take a retake test online with ATSSA.  Use this link to access the ATSSA Makeup Exam Request Form. Once the form is submitted, ATSSA will send you an exam link to retake the exam.  Make sure to ask for a "Utah Specific" exam You can contact ATSSA Customer Success Center at 1-800-272-8772.  If you would like to add the new test score to your existing Utah LTAP customer record, please make sure to forward us the test score email that you receive from ATSSA.

Course Description

The Traffic Control Supervisor course is a two-day advanced training course geared to the specific job-related duties of the traffic control supervisor. Critical lifesaving knowledge is passed on by experienced instructors who combine multimedia and group activities to solve real problems.

Upon completion of the course and passing a written examination, participants are mailed a certificate of completion from ATSSA. Training is good for 4 years

In order to take this class you have completed and passed the TCT State Specific course with a score of 80% within the last 4 years, pass the TCS State Specific course with a score of 80% possess 2 years (4000 hours) of work zone experience. This training is valid for four (4) years. This course teaches you how to read and interpret a traffic control plan in the field. Teaches you how to supervise and oversee people in the field. Upon completion of the TCS State Specific course you will have the oversight of setting up traffic control devices in the field and having people assist in the setup. This course does not certify you as a Flagger. This training is valid for four years. As long as you keep your training up to date you will not need to do the TCT State Specific course again. If you so choose you can pay an additional fee and apply to become a Certified Traffic Control Supervisor through ATSSA.

Please note:  Traffic Control Technician (TCT) is a pre-requisite for the TCS course.  You are also required to have had at least one year of work zone experience.

The Utah LTAP Center recommends that at least one employee from each city, town, county, or law enforcement agency complete the TCS training and certification.

Professional CEUs

This course counts as 16 Utah DOPL-approved CEUs for licensed Contractors. (Additional fee applies.)
