Fundamentals of Public Rights-of-Way ADA Accessibility Design, Layout, Inspection, and Construction
In this full day course, participants will receive a certification of course completion for "Fundamentals of Public Rights-of-Way (PROW) ADA Accessibility Design, Layout, Inspection, and Construction."
This course involves discussion of the major design assistance documents available for properly planning, designing, and constructing accessibility features in the public way. Actual layout of curb cut assemblies will be a major topic of discussion, including a step-by-step process. Workshop topics include:
- ADA history
- Enforcement of ADA
- Transition plans
- 2011 PROW Proposed Accessibility Guidelines
- APWA and UDOT Standards
- 2007 Special Report on Accessible Public Rights-of-Way layout of curb cut assemblies
- Lessons learned from practical experience.
