    These techniques maintain and improve the safety and traffic operations on state and local highway agencies’ road and street systems.

     

    Proactive use of access management tools has resulted in improved traffic flow and capacity as well as reductions in traffic accidents. Use of traffic calming procedures has also proven to improve traffic safety. Road safety audits offer an objective approach to improving both vehicular and pedestrian safety.

     

    The state-of-the-art practice for each of these tools will be covered during the forum. Opportunity will be provided for participants to share their experiences in the use of these techniques.
