    A Workshop for Local and State Roads Personnel

     


    COURSE OBJECTIVES

     

    Upon completion of the course the participant should be able to:

    • Identify and select proper gravel surfacing materials.

    • Properly prepare road for gravel/regravelling.

    • Use grading equipment to construct proper cross-section.

    • Place, mix and spread gravel material properly.

    • Compact gravel surface to specifications.

    • Finish gravel surface in accord with specification tolerances.

    • Select appropriate dust pallatives and gravel stabilizing materials (sodium chloride, calcium chloride, magnesium chloride, lignin sulfonate, petroleum distillate products).

    • Properly apply dust pallatives.

    • Design stabilized gravel surfaces.

    • Properly maintain gravel road surfaces with stabilizing agents.


    Who should Attend

    This workshop is designed for:

    state, local and tribal highway agency construction and maintenance personal, motor grader operators and

    other road personnel involved in the construction and maintenance of gravel roads, as well as
