UDOT's Access Management Team
Increased awareness of access management and it's potential for safety and system preservation
prompted the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) to create an internal Access
Management Quality Improvement Team (AMQIT) in 1998. The AMQIT is charged with
developing a draft model of access management for the State. This includes:
- Developing new or modified policies and rules for access management within UDOT;
- Developing a new comprehensive UDOT Access Management Manual of instructions and
standards;
- Developing recommendations for any State legislative action that might be required;
- Developing recommendations for Cooperative Plans/Agreements for use with local
governments regarding access management;
- Developing computer applications to effectively facilitate access management tracking and
permitting;
- Developing specific, detailed recommendations for early and effective full implementation; and
- Developing recommendations for a training program including training materials for use within
and outside of UDOT.
