As part of the national celebration of Public Works Week, the Utah Chapter of APWA assembled
May 20 for its annual awards banquet. Public Works Week celebrates the public works
professionals who continually strive to improve the quality of life in our communities.
One public works professional in particular received national attention for his accomplishments. Thomas R. Warne, P.E., executive director of the Utah Department of Transportation, was selected as one of the Top Ten Public Works Leaders by the National APWA. This award honors individuals for their outstanding career service achievements. The current success of Utah's I-15 reconstruction project is one of the credits to Warne's work. Warne is only the second Utahn to win this distinguished award.
