Hats Off...to Salt Lake City Suburban Sanitation
District #1
On January 28, 1999, the Utah T² Center held a Work Zone Traffic Control course in Salt Lake
City. As a result of that training, our hats are off to the Salt Lake City Suburban Sanitation
District #1 employees who did such an outstanding job on their flagger exams. More than three-quarters of these employees received a perfect score and the remaining received a better than 80%
score! Congratulations to...Gene Bates, Mike Cox, Rick Dimond, Ray Dotson, Randy Doyle, Jeff
Edgington, Karl Faulkner, Karl Forbush, Dean MacNeil, Steve Maynard, Steven Mihlfeith, Roger
Nash, Todd Perry, Paul Silcox, Cody Sommerville, Zackery Stevens, Darren Stone, Don Telford,
Kirk Tolbert!! Well done!
Hats Off...to Lisa Gion-Peters
Our hats are off to Lisa Gion-Peters of the FHWA Utah Division Office. Ms. Peters serves not
only as our liaison with the FHWA, but also as a wonderful resource for us to utilize in serving
the needs of the local agencies of Utah. We are grateful to have Ms. Peters as a key member of
our advisory board, and as an important part of the T² Center team! THANKS!
Welcome to Tom Sorel
A warm welcome goes to Tom Sorel, new member of the FHWA Utah Division Office staff. He
joins us from FHWA Region 1 (Albany, New York) and serves as the Olympic Intermodal Liaison
for the U.S. DOT. During his time with FHWA Region 1, Tom worked very closely with the
New York LTAP Center (our counterpart in New York) in delivery of new technologies to local
agencies. Now, as Olympic Intermodal Liaison, Mr. Sorel facilitates communication and
coordination of transportation matters among the U.S. Olympic committee, SLOC, UDOT, local
agencies and Federal transportation agencies. We're glad to have Tom on board and welcome
him to Utah!
