FHWA has announced the creation of four new Resource Centers which will replace the agency's nine regional offices, as mandated by Congress. The report outlining the plans is expected to be delivered to the Congress by October 1st. The new Resource Centers will be established in Baltimore (Maryland), Atlanta (Georgia), Chicago (Illinois), San Francisco (California).

Unlike the current regional offices, the Resource Centers will focus exclusively on training, technical assistance, technology transfer, research and problem solving. No program delivery functions will be administered from these offices.
