The National LTAP Annual Conference was held July 26-29, 1998 in Salt Lake City, Utah. It
was hosted by the Utah T² Center, the National Association of Transportation Technology
Transfer Centers (NATTTC) and the Federal Highway Administration. This annual gathering
brings together LTAP Center personnel (directors and support staff) from around the country and
some from the international community. They discussed ways to sustain and improve their level
of service to the local agencies in their state and how they can better prepare them to meet the
challenges of tighter budgets and greater workloads.
The implications of TEA-21 on our budgets and the budgets of the states we serve were
discussed. We also learned of some of the innovative programs being spearheaded by our sister
Centers from around the country. Participants also enjoyed field trips to see I-15 construction
and gravel road work.
Just a few of the resources and information gathered at this conference are given later (MUTCD Revisions, On-line Flagging Tutorial, "Simple Solutions") on in this newsletter. If you would like additional information, please don't hesitate to call the Utah T² Center at 1-800-822-8878.
